As part of the Five-Year Standards Review, the CAATE has identified an opportunity to enhance clarity within Standard 4, which currently encompasses two distinct types of outcome measures under a single unifying theme of quality improvement. To better support athletic training programs, the CAATE is proposing to split the current Standard 4 into two separate standards:
- Proposed Standard 4: Focuses on using a quality improvement process to ensure programs meet CAATE-defined student achievement measures.
- Proposed Standard 5: Emphasizes using a quality improvement process to pursue aspirational goals and address identified deficiencies in program effectiveness.
We're now seeking public input on these proposed revisions. Your feedback is essential to ensure the standards continue to effectively support athletic training programs and align with the mission of the CAATE.
The open comment period begins on Aug. 20, 2025, and closes on Sept. 10, 2025.
