OPEN COMMENT PERIOD FOR PROPOSED CAATE ETHICS STANDARD
In September, 2014 the CAATE held an open comment period to solicit feedback on a Code of Ethics proposed by the CAATE Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee. The Commission received extensive feedback which was relayed back to this Committee. The Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee has since collaborated with the Standards Committee to recommend the inclusion of one Standard to be added to the Professional, Post-Professional, and Residency Standards in lieu of a Code of Ethics. The proposed language of the Standard is:
The program/institution must demonstrate honesty and integrity in all interactions with the CAATE, students, and the public.
The Commission invites open comment from all stakeholders regarding the clarity of this language and the impact of the changes to the Standards. The Open Comment survey can be accessed here and will remain available until April 15, 2016. Once closed, open comments will be reviewed by the Standards Committee, and the finalized proposal will go to the Commission for final approval. If approved, the Commission will determine an implementation date at that time. Questions about this process can be directed to email@example.com or to the CAATE office 1-844-GO-CAATE.
