Teaching Quality Improvement to your Students? Interested in learning more about Quality Improvement in athletic training to be included in the delivery of your AT program? Dr. Amy Valasek, the American Academy of Pediatrics member of the CAATE, will be giving a presentation titled Journey to Better: Quality Improvement 101 at the Accreditation Conference in Tampa, FL on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
The learning objectives of the talk will be to discuss the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model to health care delivery, to review the strategies employed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for quality improvement, and to demonstrate a current quality improvement project pertaining to Sports Medicine Physicians and Athletic Trainers.
Amy Elizabeth Valasek, MD, MSc is a physician for Nationwide Children’s Sports Medicine and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine. Dr. Valasek attended medical school at The University of Maryland. She completed her residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Department of Pediatrics and sports fellowship at University of Maryland Family Medicine Department in Baltimore, MD. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She is active in the community and serves as team physician at Bishop Ready High School in Columbus, Ohio.
