The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) proudly congratulates Dr. Louise “Lou” Fincher on her appointment as the 23rd President of Emory & Henry University. Dr. Fincher, a valued member of the CAATE Board of Commissioners, brings more than three decades of leadership experience in higher education and healthcare to this distinguished role.
Dr. Fincher has been an integral part of Emory & Henry since 2014, when she was named the founding dean of the School of Health Sciences. Under her visionary leadership, the university expanded graduate health sciences programs and strengthened partnerships to address regional healthcare needs. She later served as Senior Vice President and Interim President before being unanimously elected by the Board of Trustees as President in 2025.
Her commitment to advancing health sciences education and her dedication to student success align closely with CAATE’s mission to ensure excellence in athletic training education. We are confident that Dr. Fincher’s leadership will continue to inspire innovation and collaboration within the profession.
“Lou’s passion for education and her proven ability to lead with integrity and vision make her an exceptional choice for this role,” said Toni Torres-McGehee, Ph.D., LAT, ATC, FACSM, President of the CAATE Board of Commissioners. “Her contributions to athletic training education and healthcare have been transformative, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have as President of Emory & Henry University.”
