Dec. 1, 2016
Today is the last day for programs to vote for two new Commissioners to fill the seats of departing Commissioners Ray Castle, PhD, ATC (professional program) and Chad Starkey, PhD, ATC, FNATA (post-professional program) whose terms are ending in 2017. There are two separate elections on this year’s ballot: One for a Commissioner representing Post-Professional Programs and Residencies and one for a Commissioner representing Professional Programs. There are two candidates for each available position. Each CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Program is asked to cast one (1) vote in the election for each of these Commissioner openings. All programs are strongly encouraged to participate in the election process.
The Candidates
Post-Professional Programs and Residencies:
Mr. Forrest Pecha and Dr. Bonnie Van Lunen.
Professional Programs:
Dr. Barbara Long and Dr. Christopher Schmidt.
The electronic ballot will remain open until December 1, 2016. The commissioner ballots can be accessed HERE. Click the link provided below to review the candidates’ qualifications.
Stakeholder input and voting process
An eblast was sent out to all current Program Directors, Clinical Education Coordinators, Department Chairs, and Deans notifying them of the election. Each program casts its votes through its Program Director, however the CAATE recommends that the input of all program stakeholders, such as preceptors and clinicians, be solicited by the Program Director prior to casting the program’s ballot. When voting, program directors will be directed to input their program school code which can be accessed in the program’s profile within eAccreditation.
