Winner: Kelley Henderson, EdD, LAT, ATC
The Bob and Lynn Caruthers Service Award is given to an individual that demonstrates the character and performance traits Bob and Lynn Caruthers displayed in their respective careers. Both Bob and Lynn demonstrated significant and distinguished service to professional and specialized accreditation, and excellence when working directly with constituent institutions. Award winners reflect the commitment to professional education and service shown by the Caruthers and demonstrate a clear and consistent record of excellence in service to athletic training accreditation and the CAATE.
This year’s winner of the Bob and Lynn Caruthers Service Award goes to Dr. Kelley Henderson. Dr. Henderson has been a certified athletic trainer for 23 years and currently serves as the University of West Florida’s Program Director for the Master of Science in Athletic Training program. She has been involved with the CAATE accreditation process since 2007. She began as a CAATE Peer Reviewer, served on the CAATE Review Committee where she served as a Team Coordinator, and has served as a member of the CAATE Peer Review Committee since its inception in 2020. During her tenure on the Committee, she was instrumental in the creation of the virtual peer review handbook and has helped overhaul the entire training process for peer reviewers.
Winner: Denise Roosendaal , FASAE, CAE
The President’s Award is given to individuals who provide outstanding service to the CAATE. Our first 2022 President’s Award has been presented to Denise Roosendaal, FASAE, CAE. In February 2022, Denise Roosendaal received the award for her service to the organization during our Executive Director transition. Denise is a Senior Director at Smithbucklin and serves as the Executive Director for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. Over the course of five months, Denise provided outstanding leadership and support to the CAATE volunteers and staff.
Winner: Ann Donnelly
Our second 2022 President’s Award has been presented to Ann Donnelly, ATCAS Account Manager, for her service building ATCAS. Ann’s dedication to creating ATCAS has enabled growth from 15 programs in the 2015-16 cycle to 193 in the current cycle. This type of growth is a direct result of Ann’s willingness to go the extra mile and serve our programs. She is a trusted partner and advocate for athletic training – probably not a surprise since she’s a former basketball coach. Congratulations to both our 2022 President’s Award winners.
