The CAATE is proud to announce Toni Torres-McGehee, PhD, SCAT, ATC, as the new President-Elect of our Board of Commissioners. Toni has been heavily involved in serving the interests of students, accredited institutions, and athletic training patients worldwide since the start of her career. She is currently the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Associate Professor, Director of Athletic Training Programs, and the Post-Professional Athletic Training Program Director at the University of South Carolina. Additionally, Toni has served on the CAATE's Board of Commissioners since 2020 and chair of the DEI & Leadership Development Committee.
As the Chair of the DEI & Leadership Development Committee, Torres-McGehee led strategic CAATE projects to improve the state of DE&I within CAATE accredited programs and within CAATE volunteers and appropriately respond to structural and process barriers to success across AT education.
In reflecting on her new position, Dr. Torres-McGehee remarked the following:
"It’s an honor and a privilege to serve as the President-Elect for CAATE. I strongly believe in the mission, vision, and values of CAATE. I am committed to continue leading the work around accreditation with the CAATE’s strong leadership team (which includes staff and the Board of Commissioners), and advocacy for the Athletic Training Progression with our AT stakeholders and strategic alliance partners. I look forward to continuing to create opportunities for programs to be innovative, continue to facilitate quality assurance and improvement, and enhance diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility within athletic training education."
The CAATE Board of Commissioners looks forward to Dr. Torres-McGehee’s continued leadership.
