The CAATE attended the ATPPS 2024 Annual Meeting & Conference in Boise, ID on February 29 - March 2 and hosted two workshops led by CAATE Residency & Fellowship Accreditation Council Vice-Chair, Jim Reidy and Residency & Fellowship Director, Mark Laursen. The highly interactive workshops were very well attended with over 30 individuals from 17 organizations participating!
The Residency and Fellowship Development "Foundational" Workshop
This workshop focused on the CAATE accreditation process and standards for residency and fellowship programs considering starting a residency or fellowship or interested in seeking initial accreditation.
The Residency and Fellowship Development, Content and Assessment Workshop
This workshop focused on the CAATE accreditation requirements and Standards and was most beneficial for previous workshop attendees, CAATE accredited and/or established residency and fellowship programs.

Residency and Fellowship Programs Standards
The CAATE Board of Commissioners approved changes to sections of the CAATE Residency and Fellowship Program Standards. The changes provide clarification to Standard 10 and the minimum hours requirement for programs. Additionally, the Commission approved the change to remove retention rate as an achievement measure requirement for residency and fellowship programs.

Professional Program Outcome Standards
The CAATE Board of Commissioners approved changes to sections of the CAATE Professional Program Standards during the August 2023 Board meeting. The changes resulted from the Board’s charge to the Standards Committee after vacating Standard 6 (2020 Standards) and Standard 11 (2012 Standards) during the February 2022 meeting.

- Standard 2-Revised the Annotation
- Standard 4- Revised the Standard, Annotation, How to Address, and Uploads
- Standard 5-Deleted
- Standard 7-Revised the Standard and Annotation

The CAATE is excited to announce new, important data analytics regarding program enrollment.
The new data are:
- ‘22-’23 – mean increased 0.76 for students accepting offers over ‘21-’22
- ’22-’23: 7.3% increase in students accepting admissions over ‘21-’22
- ‘22-’23: 0.14% increase in students graduating over ’21-’22
- Graduates working as an athletic trainer increase by 4.2% in 2022-23

The CAATE offers a limited number of fee waivers to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Each fee waiver covers the initial application fee to one program, and can be requested as soon as a prospective student creates an application. The CAATE has provided nearly $5,000 in waivers for the current cycle.
