Important Board Updates
The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) is excited to announce the appointment of Alysia Green, MD, to its Board of Commissioners. Dr. Green began her three-year term on October 4, 2025.
CAATE also thanks Steven Cuff, MD, for his dedicated service as his term on the CAATE Board of Commissioners concluded on October 4, 2025, after 7 years.
The CAATE expresses our sincere gratitude for Dr. Cuff’s impactful contributions and leadership. His thoughtful leadership and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in advancing the CAATE's work and will be truly missed.

Dr. Louise “Lou” Fincher’s Appointment as President of Emory & Henry University
The CAATE proudly congratulates Dr. Louise “Lou” Fincher on her appointment as the 23rd President of Emory & Henry University. Dr. Louise “Lou” Fincher, a valued member of the CAATE Board of Commissioners, brings more than three decades of leadership experience in higher education and healthcare to this distinguished role.
“Lou’s passion for education and her proven ability to lead with integrity and vision make her an exceptional choice for this role,” said Toni Torres-McGehee, Ph.D., LAT, ATC, FACSM, President of the CAATE Board of Commissioners. “Her contributions to athletic training education and healthcare have been transformative, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have as President of Emory & Henry University.”

CAATE Leadership Appearance at WFATT

CAATE President Toni Torres-McGehee, Ph.D., LAT, ATC, FACSM, and CAATE Vice President Kysha Harriell, Ph.D., LAT, ATC, joined fellow leaders from around the world at the World Federation of Athletic Training & Therapy (WFATT) Conference, October 16-18, 2025.
Toni and Kysha participated in the Leadership Summit, consisting of leaders from ARTI, BASRaT, CATA, JATO, NATA, and the BOC, to share insights and collaborate on solutions that advance athlete care worldwide.

Student Discovery Day is a collaborative experience brought to you by the Association for Athletic Training Education (AATE), Athletic Trainers in the Physician Practice Society (ATPPS), Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), and the Performing Arts Athletic Trainers’ Society (PAATS).
